Ka Mate Te Reo I Te Reaka Kotahi is a work written in 2022 for an SATB choir reflecting on the loss of a language if a generation doesn’t speak it. It finishes with the language dying out before a lone soprano sings ‘koi karo rawa atu i o uri’ or ‘or to it’s death it will be damned’. This work has since been performed by the Christchurch and Wellington Youth Choir, arranged for brass band and concert band and is set to be performed by the Harvard-Radcliffe College Musicum in 2027.
