Reconnected is a reflection on a journey that many Māori in Aotearoa New Zealand go on - reconnecting to their whakapapa and where they are from. I first started this journey a couple of years ago and whilst it has been difficult, the peace I feel when I go back to my marae is incredible. Pictured to the right is a photo from the beach outside my marae when we had our 21st anniversary early this year and I got to hear many stories from whānau who were at the marae for the first time and you could feel the emotions in the room.
