Estrellas, Spanish for stars, is a piece that is inspired by wonder they evoke, something that has always stirred my imagination. I have fond childhood memories of going to Lake Tekapo and the night sky always filled with stars. Their shimmering light and beauty have always captivated me. I would get so excited whenever we could see vast galaxies and it was something that always brought my family joy and connected us together.

Even now, from my flat, I am always able to see the stars at night and it’s so peaceful being able to sit outside and just admire them, I often will go out in the evenings and compose music. I find so much inspiration in them. Estrellas is a piece that reflects the sense of magic and awe in not only the stars we see; but the vast expanse beyond them. How the night sky twinkles and stretches above us.

My name also means “star” and have always felt connected to the night sky and enchanting it is. This is a piece that I connect with in many ways, not only through my memories and name, but admiring them feels like a moment of restfulness in a fast-paced and stressful world. Estrellas evokes the stillness, wonder, and the inspiration that can be found by looking up into the night sky.
